Duofilm is used on the skin to treat common skin and foot (plantar) warts. Salicylic acid helps cause the wart to gradually peel off. This medication is also used to help remove corns and calluses. (Read more here)
How it works and tips:
Wart removal is a tedious and nerve-wrecking experience. After consulting a doctor, she advised there there are 2 routes (1) freezing it off (2) topical treatment. After doing some research on cryotheraphy treatment (freezing with liquid nitrogen) on warts (PROs: immediately effective; CONs: a little painful, pricey) and given that I have sensitive skin, I decided to go with a topical treatment - Duofilm.
After doing some research & experimenting, the best way to use Duofilm that I've found is as follows:
(1) after showering, the wart is wet / softened, so you can try to file it down / peel the layers
(2) apply a thin layer of Duofilm on the wart
(3) wrap the area firmly with a plaster
(4) repeat daily until effective
Pros & Cons:
The pros to Duofilm is that it's an at-home treatment, and its rather inexpensive! Also easily available on Amazon instead of having to go down to a doctor:
The only con is that this manner of treatment is best suited for smaller warts, and you have to have PATIENCE and dedication in sticking to the 4 steps above!
I'm glad that my issue was finally resolved after many weeks of patience, and hope this works for you too!
